Game preservation site Forest of Illusion has recently released 12 Chinese iQue GBA games that have never been seen by the public until now.
A long time ago, Nintendo teamed up with Chinese company iQue to officially release their games in China. Together, they created a Chinese version of the GBA (iQue GBA) and released a few flagship titles on it. This first wave included games such as Metroid Zero Mission, Wario Land 4, and F-Zero Maximum Velocity. Unfortunately, rampant piracy of these first few GBA titles made Nintendo increasingly reluctant to continue supporting the iQue, and eventually led to the company pulling out of the Chinese market altogether.
As it turns out however, Nintendo had a few more Chinese GBA games in the works before they decided to yank the plug. These games had been sent to the Chinese government for review but were ultimately never released. Thanks to Forest of Illusion however, these long lost translations will finally reach the hands of the public.
Notable titles in the batch of 12 include Super Mario Kart, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, DK: King of Swing, Advance Wars, Tomato Adventure, Fire Emblem: Binding Blade, and Densetsu no Starfy 2.
