As we’ve reported previously, antique pieces from the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) are well-known for commanding some absurd prices in the market. This week, however, that bar was raised even further than ever before!
According to Goldfin Auctions, a complete set of the 1999 1st Edition Pokemon TCG was recently sold for an astounding $666,000 in total. This makes the sale one of the most expensive in the history of collectible card trading ever.
What made this set so exceptional was that everyone one of its 103 cards is rated PSA GEM MINT 10 – which means they are in the most pristine condition possible. Of course, this set also contained the sought-after Charizard holographic card (seen above, left) which undoubtedly boosted its total value even further.
What do you think? Would you pay that much for a pristine collection of Pokemon cards? Feel free to share below!
