The Pokemon Company International has published the first details for the 2020 Pokemon Regional Championships, kicking off this September.
The video game championships will kick off with Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon on Nintendo 3DS. It is currently unclear whether future regional championships after November 2019 will transition to Pokemon Sword and Shield, which was the case for the 2014 Pokemon Regional Championships after Pokemon X and Y released in October 2013.

At the Pokémon Regional Championships, Tournament Organizers have the option of conducting Pokémon TCG events in the Standard or Expanded format. On the video game side, the 2020 season will begin with Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon on systems in the Nintendo 3DS family. Stay tuned for more information on format updates.
