24 Year Old Hacker Jailed For Hacking Into Nintendo Servers

24 year old security researcher Zammis Clark has pleaded guilty for hacking into Nintendo and Microsoft servers to gain access to confidential information.

According to court documents, Clark hacked into Nintendo’s internal network through the use of VPN (virtual private network) and other tools. This allowed him to gain access to unreleased game code found on Nintendo’s development servers, as well as 2365 username and passwords.

Apparently Nintendo was unaware that the security breach even took place in May 2018. The company estimates damages thanks to the security breach are at USD913,000 to USD1.8 million.

The court has sentenced Clark to 15 months of imprisonment and 18 months of suspension, as well as a Serious Crime Prevention Order. Clark would have to pay an “unlimited fine” and five years of prison if he breaches the Serious Crime Prevention Order.
