3DS Hardware Sales Plummeted By 73% Last Fiscal Year, Amounting To Just 0.69 Million Units Sold

As we’ve been reporting today, Nintendo has published the financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2020. While the report painted a peachy future ahead for the Switch and Switch Lite, it had less glowing statistics to report for Nintendo’s retiring 3DS handheld.

According to the report, a mere 0.69 million 3DS systems were sold in the fiscal year, which represents a 73.0% decrease from the previous fiscal year ending March 31, 2019. Likewise, only 4.99 million units of 3DS software were sold – which is 62.3% less than last year.

Just like in the previous quarter, Nintendo once again left the 3DS out of the discussion of its future plans.

As things stand, it looks like Nintendo is now fully focused on their Nintendo Switch audience moving forward. We’ll report back as we hear more in the future.
