It’s been roughly one week since My Nintendo Store Japan started their Nintendo Switch 2 lottery to decide who’s lucky enough to pre-order and get a Switch 2 on day one.
Currently, there are three different types of consoles up for grabs on My Nintendo Store – Nintendo Switch 2 Japanese-Language System (Japan Only), Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World Set Japanese-Language System (Japan Only), and Nintendo Switch 2 Multi-Language System. In Japan, the Multi-Language System is exclusive to My Nintendo Store.
A Twitter poll with close to 26,000 respondents has revealed which set Japanese users have chosen in the My Nintendo Store lottery. 59.5% went with the Japanese Mario Kart World set, 38.3% with the standalone Japanese system, and the remaining 2.2% with the standalone Multi-Language system.
Based on current reports from other countries, it seems that 70% to 85% of the Switch 2 launch shipment will comprise of Mario Kart World sets, and while we won’t be able to tell how many Multi-Language systems Nintendo decides to allocate to Japan, we can expect similar numbers for the Japanese-Only Mario Kart World and standalone sets there.
