7 years ago, Nintendo launched the Switch, a handheld home console hybrid which took the videogame world by storm.

Despite the console’s age, 2023 proved to be another very successful year, seeing the launch of many highly anticipated and highly acclaimed titles. The Legend Of  Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom became the Switch’s second title to sell 10 million copies at launch, receiving many accolades from critics and praise from fans. Pikmin 4 was also released after many years of development, bringing the series to new heights of popularity. Nintendo also released Super Mario Bros. Wonder, an innovative new 2D entry in the Mario series, forever redefining what players thought a 2D Mario could be like.

As of December 2023, the Switch family of systems has sold over 139 million units worldwide, and is Nintendo’s best-selling home console and 3rd best-selling videogame hardware of all time. Despite this continued success however, the console is arguably entering its twilight years, with its successor rumored to be coming ever closer. That said, there’s still a couple more things to look forward to in the months between, so for the time being…
