Rumor: Switch Successor To Feature Magnetic Joy-cons, Additional Details Surface
For the past few months, rumors have been circulating that Nintendo is preparing to launch a successor to the Nintendo Switch, possibly sometime in 2025.
This latest batch of “Switch 2” rumors was reported by Spanish gaming website Vandal. Vandal’s sources are a “reputable accessory manufacturer”, who claims to have previewed the new console in an “opaque box”, supposedly because Nintendo was worried about potential leaks. They were permitted to touch the console to get a better idea of its size and dimensions, presumably for manufacturing purposes.
This manufacturer made the following claims about the new console:
- It’s larger than the base Switch, but smaller than the Steam Deck
- The Joy-con controllers are attached by magnets instead of the current rail system
- The new console will support the existing pro controllers
- They believe and assume that the new console will have backwards compatibility with existing Switch games
As with all rumors of this nature, we caution readers to take this with a grain of salt. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
