Metacritic has published its 15th annual game publisher rankings, which ranks various game publishers by their average critic review scores for 2024.

This time, Nintendo has placed 22nd in the rankings out of the 37 listed publishers, with an average Metascore of 76 across the 13 games they released that year. This would be considered a “Generally Favorable” score, but this is the lowest Nintendo has placed in Metacritic’s rankings so far.

This result is perhaps unsurprising, given that 2024 was a more quiet year for Nintendo without any major breakout hits aside from the Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door remake, Super Mario Party, and The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom.

On the other hand, in an amusing twist, Nintendo’s former biggest rival SEGA snagged the Number 1 spot this year, with an 82.9 across the 12 games they released in 2024. Other publishers in the upper echelon of the rankings include Capcom, Microsoft, and Sony.
