A Playable Switch Emulator For Android Has Apparently Popped Up, But It Has Some Shady Origins And Requirements

Nintendo Switch emulation has been a touchy subject for many fans to date, with ongoing debates about its role in gaming preservation versus piracy. No matter which side you stand on though, getting Switch titles to run on non-native devices is still an amazing feat – and today’s example is no exception…at least on the surface.

Some mobile and gaming enthusiasts have seemingly managed to get their hands on a Switch emulator for Android devices, titled ‘Egg NS‘. Reportedly, the program is able to run titles such as Pokemon Sword/Shield and Hollow Knight at a decent performance with phones that are powerful enough – although it pretty much crashes immediately with more intensive games like Super Mario Odyssey.

That’s where all the impressive facts about Egg NS end though, because everything else about it is super shady. According to folks that have dug through the emulator’s inner workings, it apparently uses coding ripped straight from Yuzu – another popular and more accessible Switch emulator. In contrast, Egg NS is closed-source and forces its users to create an online account for constant logins. Additionally, the emulator only works when one’s Android phone is connected with a specific controller.

In general, it’s probably advisable to stay away from Egg NS. If you really want to see the emulator in action however, you can do so below – thanks to YouTuber Taki Udon:
