A Pokemon Scale World Figure Of Wailord Was Being Developed, But Then Put On Hold Due To Pricing Concerns
As many Pokemon fans will know, the growing Pokemon Scale World series of figures features various Pokemon and trainers that are perfectly sized in proportion with each other. Sadly, it looks like not every Pokemon will get to sit together on collectors’ shelves – due to some “massive” considerations.
Nakatani, who oversees planning and development of Bandai’s Pokemon Shokugan products, recently spoke about her work on the merchandise line. When asked about which pokemon has been the most challenging to adapt into a Pokemon Scale World figure, she revealed that it was none other than Wailord – one of the largest Pokemon in the series’ history.
This is because the prototype Pokemon Scale World figure of Wailord turned out pretty massive (even at 1/20 scale) – which made Nakatani realize that an actual figure of that size would cost more than twice the ideal selling price, which would be difficult to balance optimally for sale. As a result of this, further development of a Wailord figure has been put on hold until further notice.
Here are some pictures of the Wailord prototype figure below. As you can see, it easily dwarfs some of the smaller Pokemon Scale World figures like Pikachu and Natu!
What do you think? Would you love to actually own a Wailord figure of this size? How much would you actually be willing to pay for it? Feel free to share below!
