All Super Mario 3D World References Removed From Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

The first impressions for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker have started to trickle in this morning, and there’s a piece of upsetting news for those who have played the original Wii U version of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.

According to Nintendo World Report, while there are four new kingdoms based on Super Mario Odyssey in Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker’s Switch and 3DS releases, the four levels inspired by Super Mario 3D World found in the original Wii U version have been removed.

Not only that – the outlet has found that all visual references to Super Mario 3D World in other levels have been removed. Given that the game uses a bunch of mechanics from Super Mario 3D World, they felt it was a “bewildering move”.
