Almost Everyone Secures A Nintendo Switch 2 In Yodobashi Camera’s Pre-Order Lottery In Japan
We have some good news coming from the Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order lotteries conducted by Japanese retailer Yodobashi Camera, which was the last major retailer to start their pre-order lottery in Japan.
According to Japanese reports, every Yodobashi Camera location that was accepting entries in their pre-order lottery received an “emergency allocation surplus” of 100 – 200 units. This resulted in at least one store that had 520 out of 599 customers securing a Nintendo Switch 2, a 86.8% success rate.
Four reasons have been suggested for the high success rate:
- Nintendo has increased production to meet demand
- Allocations from rural locations were diverted to larger locations
- Order restrictions (for retailers) were eased for some reason
- It wasn’t possible for retailers to order the console as allocations were quickly taken up
