Almost Everyone Secures A Nintendo Switch 2 In Yodobashi Camera’s Pre-Order Lottery In Japan

We have some good news coming from the Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order lotteries conducted by Japanese retailer Yodobashi Camera, which was the last major retailer to start their pre-order lottery in Japan.

According to Japanese reports, every Yodobashi Camera location that was accepting entries in their pre-order lottery received an “emergency allocation surplus” of 100 – 200 units. This resulted in at least one store that had 520 out of 599 customers securing a Nintendo Switch 2, a 86.8% success rate.

Four reasons have been suggested for the high success rate:

  1. Nintendo has increased production to meet demand
  2. Allocations from rural locations were diverted to larger locations
  3. Order restrictions (for retailers) were eased for some reason
  4. It wasn’t possible for retailers to order the console as allocations were quickly taken up
