amiibo Don’t Unlock Fighters In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

We have a piece of bad news for those of you who were planning to unlock fighters via amiibo in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

A streamer who has an early copy of the game tried to use Ganondorf in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but apparently nothing happened. This confirms that you cannot unlock a fighter with amiibo in this game, unlike Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/Nintendo 3DS.

However, you can still use amiibo as Figure Players (FP) in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Figure Players can be trained and level up, they are a special type of CPU which you can bring to matches.
