Today we have some interesting news coming from the Nintendo Switch hackers community on whether it’s safe to overclock your Switch.
Overclocking your Switch helps to boost performance and the quality of graphics. As overclocking any device naturally increases the amount of heat generated, some were concerned overclocking all the time is harmful to the Switch.
Thanks to a Digital Foundry analysis, we now know that overclocking doesn’t damage the system. Under a max load, the CPU runs at 60 degree Celsius, and that increases to 64 degree Celsius when the CPU is overclocked. As performance begins to throttle at 84 degree Celsius, it’s pretty much safe to overclock the Switch.
Overclocking the Switch also has a minimal impact on battery life, as watt usage increases from 15 watts to 19 watts whenever the system is overclocked.
