Animal Crossing: New Horizons ESRB Rating Once Again Mentions In-Game Purchases

Earlier this month, many fans noted that the Animal Crossing: New Horizons eShop page contained an ESRB rating for ‘in-game purchases’. What followed was massive speculation over the game possibly receiving paid DLC – which quickly fizzled out when the same reference to ‘in-game purchases’ disappeared. Well, following another update to the eShop listing, it looks like we’re back to square one!

Just today, the game’s eShop page has added back the ESRB rating for ‘in-game purchases’ (seen below). It’s right next to the rating for ‘Users Interact’ – which obviously describes the game’s online multiplayer features.

With Nintendo staying silent on the matter, it looks like we’ll remain in the dark until they reveal more during this week’s Animal Crossing Direct broadcast. We’ll report back if and when we hear more in the future.

In the meantime, what do YOU think? Will Nintendo really be adding paid DLC to the Animal Crossing series? Feel free to chime in with your thoughts below!
