During the recent Animal Crossing: New Horizons Direct, Nintendo officially confirmed that an alternative save data backup feature would be coming to the game shortly after launch.
To recap, Animal Crossing: New Horizons will not support the normal Cloud Save backup feature for Nintendo Switch Online. However, an alternative backup feature will be available for subscribers in the event of a defective or lost console. Although the exact details were not shared, it was confirmed the feature will be made available sometime after the game launches.
That said, the is one critical piece of information that was included in small fine print during the presentation. For those who missed it, this fine print states that players will only be able to use the save back-up feature exactly one time to recover their save.
Nintendo Switch Online members can only have save data recovered one time due to the loss or damage of system.
It seems that Nintendo is banking on most players only ever having to transfer their data once due to a damaged or lost console, barring those who are particularly unlucky or careless.
What do you think? Is “one time” enough chances to recover your save data? Let us know in the comments.
