Today, Nintendo released their financial results for the fiscal year ending 31 March 2020 – which highlights some of the company’s top-selling titles. One of those blockbuster titles was Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and it had a pretty hot start this year!
According to the report, the game sold a whopping 11.7 million units just within its first 11 days after launch (March 20 – March 31). Of course, this averages to a one million copies sold per day within that period!
This trend did eventually slow down, with the game having sold 13.41 million units in total by the end of its first six weeks. Still, this six-week figure for the Switch title easily overshadowed the lifetime sales of past entries like Wild World and New Leaf, as seen in the table below:
As it stands, New Horizons is breaking pretty much every sales record the Animal Crossing series! We’ll report back as we hear of its further success in the future!
