The entire staff of Annapurna Interactive has resigned over a dispute with the publisher’s owner Megan Ellison.
This report was shared via Bloomberg, broiling down to failed negotiations for Annapurna Interactive’s videogame publishing to be spun off into its own independent entity. After Ellison pulled out from the negotiations, Annapurna Interactive’s President Nathan Gary, fellow executives, and several staff members all resigned in response.
All existing games and projects will remain under Annapurna Interactive, which includes many famous indie games such as Neon White, Stray, Cocoon, and more. This will be overseen by the newly appointed replacement president Hector Sanchez, who will honor existing contracts and replace the departed staff.
Regarding this outcome, Megan Ellison commented the following to Bloomberg:
“Our top priority is continuing to support our developer and publishing partners during this transition. We’re committed to not only our existing slate of games but also expanding our presence in the interactive space as we continue to look for opportunities to take a more integrated approach to linear and interactive storytelling across film and TV, gaming, and theater.”
