ARMS tackles network lag while character arms are extending

Network lag is a huge issue while playing multiplayer games online, particularly in fighting games. To tackle this issue, Nintendo devised a very special way of dealing with network lag in ARMS.

In an interview with GamesMaster, producer Kosuke Yabuki told the outlet “In the short time while the character arms extend, the game absorbs any network lag to allow for a truly responsive battle.”

Engineering director Kenta Sato also mentioned “advanced players can go all-out, and we hope that we’ll see some of these players develop techniques beyond anything we imagined.”

ARMS launches worldwide on June 16th 2017.
