Back in 2019, Bandai Namco registered a mysterious trademark for “Klonoa of the Wind Encore” – indicating that a modern remaster of the Klonoa series could be in the works. While the company has been radio silent about this since then, it looks like something new may finally be happening behind the scenes!
Bandai Namco has recently filed trademarks for both “Waffuu Encore” and “1&2 Encore” in Japan – with “Waffuu” seemingly referring to the catch phrase of the Klonoa series’ hero. Bandai Namco usually uses the subtitle “Encore” for its remastered games in Japan.
Taken together, these trademarks strongly imply that both Klonoa: Door to Phantomile and Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil could getting a remastered release on modern hardware.
If true, this would be similar to the Katamari Reroll (or Katamari Encore in Japan) and Mr. Driller DrillLand (or Mr. Driller Encore in Japan). Those games also received official announcements soon after their trademarks appeared online.
We’ll just have to wait and see if the beloved Klonoa series will finally be making a return. Stay tuned!
