Bethesda Reiterates That The Switch Is ‘Not Powerful Enough’ For Elder Scrolls Online, Would Require Streaming Service

If you’re still waiting for more Elder Scrolls action on Nintendo Switch, you’re better off replaying Skyrim instead.

During an interview with Twinfinite, Bethesda Game Director Matt Firor was once again questioned about a possible Elder Scrolls Online port for Switch. It looks like MMORPG fans are fresh out of luck, however – as Firor admitted that it just wasn’t likely:

“Not going to happen. The only way it’d work is if there was some kind of streaming service on Switch. It’s just not powerful enough.”

This pretty much repeats the sentiments of another interview from almost a year ago – where Firor said the game would ‘not fit on Switch’. It looks like the developers at Bethesda simply haven’t figured out a reasonable solution to get the game on the system.

This is pretty understandable, given that the game (including all of its recent patches) can exceed 150GB in size due to its massive world! That would certainly be quite a heavy burden for the weaker Switch hardware to process.

As Firor states, the only way would be to employ some sort of cloud-streaming service to broadcast the game on players’ devices remotely. As it stands, Switch gamers will just have to look elsewhere for their multiplayer online adventure fix.
