At Taipei Game Show 2019, Shining series producer Makoto Suzuki finally spoke up about the upcoming Blade Arcus Rebellion From Shining.
Namely, he spoke at length about only adding characters from Shining Resonance to the roster. Suzuki also revealed that there were currently no plans for DLC in the game – but that could change depending on fans’ feedback. He even teased that a sequel could be possible if fans review the game well!
Here are the highlights of the interview, courtesy of Siliconera:
This time, six characters were added, all from Shining Resonance. Why weren’t characters from earlier games chosen?
Makoto Suzuki, producer: “Regarding how we chose characters, because most of the earlier games only had Japanese versions while Shining Resonance was released in many languages, if we were to promote the series to various regions in the future, we thought it would be better to bring in recent characters who people knew from localized games. If we were to bring in characters from earlier games, perhaps some players wouldn’t know who they were, and they would be hard to promote as well.”
Are there any plans for DLC afterwards?
Suzuki: “We currently don’t have plans for DLC, but because this series has many characters who haven’t appeared, we will see player reactions after launch, then consider whether we make a sequel or DLC. We’ll be looking very closely at how players review the game.”
Will the Shining series try out different genres in the future?
Suzuki: “Currently we can’t make any announcements, but as the series enters its 30th anniversary in 2021, we hope we can present fans with some sort of title by then. We’re still discussing it.”
