Following the announcement of Diablo III Eternal Collection for Nintendo Switch, Blizzard Entertainment was asked whether they had intentions of bringing more games to the hybrid console.
Speaking to GameSpot, Diablo III Eternal Collection senior producer Pete Stilwell felt bringing Diablo III to Nintendo Switch was a “good opportunity” for the company to better understand the technology behind Nintendo Switch.
When asked whether Overwatch could run on Nintendo Switch, Stilwell said it was feasible and anything is in the realm of possibility. As for StarCraft 2, however, it would be less likely for the game to make the switch over as the PC game would have to be reworked from the ground up.
Here are Stilwell’s full comments on the matter:
Anything is within the realm of possibility. Our team was given the task to work on this. If [Overwatch developer] Team 4 picks up that endeavour, that’s on them. As of right now Diablo is our only focus on Switch. Yes, it is feasible.
The N64 version of StarCraft was cool but you had to change the game quite a bit to make it work properly on console. StarCraft 2 is next level requirements from how much dexterity you need with a mouse and keyboard, so I think that would have been a very difficult port. It would have [to] change the core gameplay.
