Critics and the press have started releasing their reviews for Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, launching this Friday on Nintendo Switch.
Early reviews from critics on Metacritic show the game has been well received despite being a port of the original Wii U release. At the time of writing, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker has a Metascore of 81 based on 20 critics, which is exactly the same as the Wii U release’s Metascore of 81.
Here are a couple of reviews you can check out:
GamesBeat – 90
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is charming, fun, and — in a rarity for Nintendo’s Wii U ports — right-priced for the Switch.
Metro GameCentral – 80
Utterly charming on (literally) every level, it may not offer much in terms of fast action but this is just as imaginative and engrossing as any Super Mario game.
Another great Wii U game that is made better by the Nintendo Switch’s portability. It’s a fun experience that doesn’t overstay its welcome, but definitely does feel repetitive in certain areas.
Vooks – 80
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker offers very little for those who have played it before, but if you haven’t played before then you’re in for a treat. Treasure Tracker might look adorable on the surface but under lurks a fun and innovative puzzler, one that might just be better played on your own adventure away from the TV.
