Switch owners looking to dive into a medieval, card-based RPG may have to bury their hopes.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales is a card-game spin-off of the Witcher series which features a expansive campaign map. It’s releasing for PCs on October 23, and will be going to PS4 and Xbox One in the future. With its focus on card battles, some saw it as a perfect fit with the Nintendo Switch’s portability.
However, when Eurogamer approached CD Projekt Red about the possibility of a Switch port, a company spokesman outright quashes the likelihood of it happening:
“There are no plans to release Thronebreaker on any other platforms than PC [GOG], PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.”
As noted further by Eurogamer, the spokesperson did not say “no plans, yet” – so the company might be adamant on keeping the game off Nintendo’s latest platform. While a little unfortunate, we will just have to wait and see if CD Projekt Red changes their mind eventually.
