Earlier, Nintendo officially revealed that Charles Marinet, the voice of Mario for over 30 years, will be stepping back from voice acting the character in Nintendo’s games. Along with this news, many fans have been curious if Martinet will still be voicing the heroic plumber in the upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and it looks like we finally have confirmation.
In a new official statement shared with GameXplain, Nintendo of America has further clarified that Charles Martinet is “not involved” with the game – sharing that voice actors for the game’s characters will be credited in the game’s credits:
“While Charles is not involved in the game, we’re excited to honor his legacy and contributions, include looking ahead to what he’ll be doing as a Mario Ambassador. Character voice actors will be credited in the game credits, so please wait for the game to be released.”
This implies that the Mario in the Super Mario Bros. Wonder trailer is actually a new voice actor for the character, as many fans have suspected since the game was first revealed. As for who the new voice of Mario is, we’ll just have to wait for the game’s release to find out.
