Charles Martinet Would Be Happy To Voice Mario In The Upcoming Illumination Film

A few years back, we learned that a new movie based on Super Mario was in the works at Illumination, with the aim of launching sometime in 2022.

One question that some fans might have is whether Mario’s current voice actor Charles Martinet will be also be voicing the plumber in this upcoming film. In a short interview at Galaxycon Live, Martinet shared his thoughts on the project and said he would be happy to voice Mario if he was invited:

“Well it sounds like a marvellous thing, it sounds like great fun and if they invite me to play, I’ll go in and play with great joy and happiness.”

“It should be a lot of fun, you know, everything illumination touches looks like it’s fun and Nintendo, too.”

Although its great to hear that Martinet is quite positive about the film, his response seems to suggest that he has not been contacted by Nintendo or Illumination to reprise his role. While this could mean he will not be returning to voice Mario in the movie, its also possible that casting has not been finalized yet, and the filmmakers may get in touch with him at a later date.

Whatever the case, its likely that we will not know for sure until more information about the film is released. We will be sure to report back with more details as they come.
