Civilization VI Switch Might Not Have Online Multiplayer At Launch

Today we bring to you some concerning news about Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, launching November 16 on Nintendo Switch.

If you’re unfamiliar with Civilization VI, the simulation game supports online play on other platforms such as PC. However, the Switch version seems to be lacking online play, at least at launch.

If you take a look at Civilization VI’s eShop listing, it only mentions local play for up to 4 players:

Whereas Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a game we definitely know there’s online play, shows there’s online play for up to 12 players, as well as a reminder that Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to play online:

Neither 2K Games nor Sid Meier have clarified whether the Civilization VI will support online play on Nintendo Switch. At best, players are going to receive a Day One patch that enables online play – or worst, it wouldn’t get online play at all.

What do you think?
