Following confirmation that the Super Mario Bros. Movie would be getting a sequel, many have been wondering which characters from the series will be the next to make their big screen debut as well which actor will lend their voice for the role.
Even before the cast of the first film was revealed, one of fans’ most popular picks was actor Danny Devito, either as the voice of Mario, or as his mirror opposite Wario. In a recent interview with The Movie Dweeb Daniel Merrifield, Devito was asked directly about whether he would be interested in voicing Wario in the next Super Mario Bros. film.
In his response, Devito hinted he would be open to doing so, although he would also like to be paid well if he did, which is admittedly very in line with Wario’s character.
“You never know what happens in the world. I’m up for a lot of things, you know, I’m ready to do a lot of things, so, whatever’s coming.”
“You should tell them that I’m gonna take ’em to the cleaners, but I should be in the movie.”
