Following the recent Switch Version 12.0.0. update, dataminers have discovered that it adds an interesting new feature to the console.
According to well-known dataminer Oatmealdome, the new version update has quietly given the Switch the ability to update the firmware of the Nintendo Switch dock. This is intriguing as the hardware used in the Switch dock is apparently quite basic, and it is not clear why it would need updating.
That said, Oatmealdome later confirmed the existence of a new setting within the firmware update labelled “CrdA”, which some are now speculating to be a reference to the codename for the rumored new model of Switch that was discovered previously.
That said, while it is clear that the update did give the Switch the ability to update dock firmware, any further theories about why this was done are largely speculation on the part of the dataminers and fans. We advise readers to take the findings with a grain of salt, and we will be sure to bring more updates should they become available.
