More domestic sales figures for the Detective Pikachu film are now filtering in, marking its third weekend in theaters.
From the looks of things, the film is gradually slowing down in terms of ticket sales. Namely, the movie only raked in $13,3 million this weekend in the US – a far cry from its $24 million earnings last weekend. This bumps it down to the fourth place on the US box office ratings.
This dip in performance is likely due to the recent release of the new live-action Aladdin film by Disney, which pocketed a whopping $86 million in its first weekend alone.
Overall, it looks like Detective Pikachu is now up against a true juggernaut in the US film industry. We’ll report back when we hear more.
