Detective Pikachu Star Thinks A Sequel Is Unlikely To Happen

Its been around two years since Detective Pikachu made its big debut in theaters to massive positive reception, to the point that rumors of a sequel were swirling around even before the film actually released.

In a more recent interview with Inverse, Justice Smith, who played Tim Goodman in the film, shared his thoughts on the possibility of a sequel. Unfortunately for fans, it seems Smith believes that a sequel is not likely to happen at this point, although he would love to participate if it does.

You can read his full thoughts on the matter below:

Speaking of Detective Pikachu, it’s been a year since you were last asked about the possibility of Detective Pikachu 2. Do you think it’s still going to happen and would you still be willing to participate?

Justice Smith: I would love to participate in Detective Pikachu 2. I don’t know if it’s going to happen. I think we have to just kind of bury our hopes. I don’t think it’s going to happen. I really hope so though. Honestly, I’m such a huge fan, who knows, who knows? I hope so.

Judging from Smith’s words, it seems that the Detective Pikachu films may be in a similar position to the game, which also has a supposed sequel that has yet to materialize.
