Devs Still “Working Hard” On Dragon Quest XII
A few years back, Square Enix announced Dragon Quest XII, the next mainline installment of the Dragon Quest series that would shape the next 10 to 20 years of the franchise.
Since this initial announcement, we have had little to no news or updates regarding the title. However, during the latest edition of series creator Yuji Horii’s KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku radio show, he confirmed that Square Enix is still “working hard” on the game, apologizing for the confusion regarding the title and denying that it had been cancelled.
Concerns about the game’s status arose due to Dragon Quest series producer Yu Miyake stepping down to manage Square Enix’s mobile division, as well as the tragic passing of Dragon Quest character designer Akira Toriyama last year.
If development proceeds smoothly, it seems likely that Dragon Quest XII could see release on the Switch 2, which is set to launch later this year. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
