Did You Know Gaming Explores The History Of The “Super Mario 128” Project

Back in 1996, Nintendo teased the development Super Mario 128 – a supposed sequel to Super Mario 64 with a tech demo featuring dozens of Marios running around. Of course, the game disappeared into development limbo and would be overshadowed by other games like Super Mario Galaxy in the 2000s. Well, here are some interesting tidbits about its development that you may not have known about previously!

Did You Know Gaming? has released a new 12-minute video about the history of the ill-fated project – and what eventually became of it. In particular, we get more insight into Shigeru Miyamoto’s struggles with the title, various rumors about the game that popped up during development, and more!

Check out these factoids below:

“In this video, Did You Know Gaming takes a look at the history of a Nintendo game that unfortunately didn’t see the light of day — at least not all of it — Super Mario 128. The title saw life behind the scenes on the Nintendo 64, GameCube, and in some ways, even the Wii.”
