Nightdive, the developers responsible for porting Doom 64 to Switch, have revealed some additional features for fans to look forward to when it releases later this month.
Speaking to USGamer, Senior Developer James Haley revealed that Doom 64 on Switch will include a brand new chapter in Doomguy’s story, taking place shortly after Doom 64‘s main campaign:
On our end, persistent players will have the opportunity to unlock a new chapter in the Doomguy’s saga, taking place shortly after [Doom 64’s] original campaign concludes. The Mother Demon you defeated in that outing had a sister, and since you’ve been messing up Hell non-stop, she tries to get rid of you by sending you away. If you can make your way back and take revenge, you’ll be rewarded with a bit of lore that fans of both series, new and classic, should enjoy.
In addition, Haley and other members of the Nightdive team also confirmed a number of other new additions to the Switch port including:
- Optional motion control support
- Navigating the automap with the touch screen
- New brightness settings for multiplayer, which will help make the game much easier to see on modern screens
- Added option to change blood color between red and lesser known green from original Japanese version
Doom 64 launches on Switch March 20 as a pre-order bonus for Doom Eternal.
