Dr. Mario World Review Bombed Because China Cannot Be Selected As A Country
Today we have some ridiculous news to share with you about Dr. Mario World on the Play Store.
According to reports, players from mainland China are review bombing Dr. Mario World with one stars. These players claimed Nintendo is “discriminating players against China” because they couldn’t select China as a country in the app and there is no option to play in Simplified Chinese:
The claims made by these players are partially true. It is true that China couldn’t be selected as a country in Dr. Mario World, as China is not a supported region for Nintendo Accounts at this time. However, it is not true that the app doesn’t support Simplified Chinese – Dr. Mario World could be played in Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
As there is no EULA (end user licensing agreement) for China yet, Japanese is displayed by default for players in China. The language could be changed in the settings menu very easily.
That said, Chinese players probably didn’t understand that Nintendo wishes to support the Chinese market, it is not an easy market to enter given the high amount of regulations it has to comply with. As there are no smartphone apps officially available in China yet, Chinese gamers will probably have to wait a little longer for an official release.
