Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is due to launch on November 7th 2024, to be followed up with similar remakes for Dragon Quest I and II in 2025.
For those who may not be aware, Dragon Quest III is actually positioned as a prequel to Dragon Quest I, making it the first game in the series chronologically. At the Tokyo Game Show 2024, Dragon Quest series’ creator Yuji Horii confirmed that the remakes will included some added content that will give players “a little surprise” at the end if they play the games in chronological order.
Horii (Via Famitsu Machine Translation): “If you play 3 → 1 → 2 in chronological order, we added something that will give you a little surprise or discovery at the end of 2. ”
We already know that the Dragon Quest III remake will include some new story elements not present in the original game, and we can presume that they will be followed up in the I and II remakes next year. Stay tuned for more as it comes.
