Square Enix has shared an update regarding the Japan only MMORPG Dragon Quest X Online.

Firstly, it has been confirmed that another major expansion for the game is currently in the works. This Version 7.0 expansion will be titled Dragon Quest X Online: The Door to the Future and the Sleeping Girl and is planned to release in 2024 for Switch and other platforms in Japan.

This update unfortunately comes along with news that Square Enix will be ending support for the game on Wii U and 3DS. Square Enix will begin winding down support for in-game purchases and subscription renewals for both versions form today onwards, and will pull the plug fully on March 20, 2024. Players who wish to continue using their characters on another version of the game will be able to do so by logging in to the same Square Enix account they used for the Wii U and 3DS versions.
