Nintendo has announced the first Nintendo Switch reward for the My Nintendo loyalty program worldwide.
From early March 2018, My Nintendo members will be able to exchange their Gold Points for cash on the Nintendo Switch eShop. For example, you can exchange 100 Gold Points for 100 yen/USD1.00 worth of eShop cash. The eShop cash can be used to offset your digital game purchases.
To further encourage the use of this new system, it will be easier to earn Gold Points from early March 2018. Nintendo Switch digital game and DLC purchases, Nintendo 3DS digital game purchases, and Wii U digital game purchases will earn an Gold Point equivalent of 5% of the value spent (5000 yen/USD50 purchase = 250 Gold Points). Physical Switch software will earn 1% (5000 yen/USD50 purchase = 50 Gold Points). This is a huge increase from the measly 10 – 20 Gold Points that members can currently earn by registering their physical games.
