Fans looking forward to some local couch co-op in Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered might have to rein in their expectations.
Square Enix has clarified that the upcoming remaster heading to Nintendo Switch will not feature the offline multiplayer options of the original game. This was apparently due to ‘development reasons’ – which convinced Square to focus only on online multiplayer instead.
“As we have introduced in official broadcasts, this product does not support offline multiplayer. For development reasons, it is necessary to select either offline or online, so we selected online multiplayer so that more people can play.”
While unfortunate, we’ll just have to wait and see if the online multiplayer component more than makes up for the loss of local co-op play.
