First look at the Nintendo Switch Online app and SplatNet 2

During today’s Splatoon 2 Direct, Nintendo has given us a first look at the upcoming Nintendo Switch Online app and SplatNet 2.

Nintendo has confirmed Nintendo Switch Online will officially launch on iOS and Android on July 21st, 2017, which is the same day Splatoon 2 launches.

The Nintendo Switch Online app lets Nintendo Switch players communicate by voice chat via their smartphone. It’s also able to set up matches between friends on social media or on the Nintendo Switch friend list.

SplatNet 2 is a free Splatoon 2 service available through the Nintendo Switch Online app. SplatNet 2 displays useful information such as “stage schedules, gear and stats, and “lifetime inkage” to players.

As previously announced, players will be able to use the Nintendo Switch Online service for free till early 2018, when the Nintendo Switch Online paid subscription formally begins.
