Following the development of the Android operating system for Nintendo Switch, the Nintendo Switch homebrew community has launched the first experimental Nintendo Switch emulator for Android smartphones.
The emulator, called MonoNX, is only capable of console output and runs at a pitiful 0.3 frames per second. Here is how it looks like:
As console output emulators could only display text and could not display graphics, this means MonoNX isn’t powerful enough to run Nintendo Switch games but only simple and old homebrew test applications. You’ll need a smartphone that has at least 4GB of RAM to render the lines of text.
It’ll probably be at least a decade before hackers and pirates successfully run Nintendo Switch games in a playable state on smartphones, so this doesn’t pose a threat to Nintendo for the time being.
