Fortnite Switch No Longer Supports Cross-Play With Xbox & PS4 In Random Matchmaking

In Fortnite’s latest patchnotes, Epic Games confirmed that Switch players will no longer be matched with Xbox or PS4 in random matchmaking. Instead, Switch players will be only be matched with IOS and Android players.

For some, this decision may come as no surprise. This is because the Switch version of Fortnite has faced a number of performance issues, especially compared to its Xbox & PS4 counterparts. Some issues, such as being locked to 30 fps, even sometimes place Switch players at a disadvantage. According to Epic Games, moving Switch Players into the mobile pool will lead to a “better per-game experience” for both.

What do you think about their decision? Is it better for Switch players to be matched against console players or mobile players? Let us know in the comments below.

UPDATE/CORRECTION: The original article reported that Fortnite on Switch “No Longer Supports Cross-play With Xbox & PS4”. However, we have since obtained clarification that this is not the case. The reported limitation only applies to random matchmaking, and Switch Fortnite players will still be able to cross-play with Xbox & PS4 if already partied up or invited (such as in squads and duos). The title and article content has been updated accordingly so as to be less misleading.
