Earlier today during a Famitsu livestream, Sega officially revealed the final batch of 10 games for their Mega Drive Mini along with two surprise titles that bring up the total to 42 games.
First off, the final batch of 10 games out of the originally announced 40 were revealed as follows:
Next, the first of the two surprise announcements is a port of Darius from Taito Corporation. Darius is unique among the other games on the Mega Drive Mini in that it was never released for the console during its lifespan (although the sequel Darius II was). This makes Darius the only “new” game to be included on the Mega Drive Mini.
The second surprise game is Tetris for the Mega Drive. Originally cancelled by SEGA due to rights and licencing issues, there are only a handful of copies of this version of Tetris out in the wild, making it one of the rarest Mega Drive games of all time. Its inclusion on the Mega Drive Mini means that a lot more people will be able to enjoy this version of the iconic puzzler without having to shell out millions.
With the inclusion of Darius and Tetris, the total number of games available on the Mega Drive Mini now sits at a total of 42. For your convenience, we have included the full list of titles below:
