Furukawa: Comparing Nintendo Labo Sales To Other First Party Titles Is “Unfair”

In a Kyoto News interview, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa was asked to comment on the state of Nintendo Labo, a new line of DIY toys that interact with the Switch introduced in 2018.

While the President didn’t state whether Nintendo Labo sales were up to Nintendo’s standards, he mentioned that the truth it’s “unfavorable” to compare Nintendo Labo sales to the sales of other popular first party titles such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

That said, sales during the holiday season saw a bump, and Nintendo hopes to turn Nintendo Labo into an evergreen (selling for a long period of time) product by conveying to consumers the advantages of Nintendo Labo.
