During Nintendo’s fiscal Q&A session published on May 9, 2025, an investor asked how Nintendo was planning to capture core gamers, as they thought that the Nintendo Switch didn’t really appeal to core gamers and Switch 2 could be appealing to them given its higher performance.
Furukawa answered that Nintendo places “high importance” on whether their game consoles have sufficient performance in order to provide software developers ways to deliver new gameplay.
As a result, the company places importance on their software, those who often play Nintendo games, those who do not, and the many customers that enjoy their products. The company strives to make hardware and software that many customers can enjoy.
