Furukawa Wants The Nintendo Switch 2 To Be Enjoyed And Played By Many Customers As Long As Nintendo Switch
Nintendo has published the Q&A session for their 85th annual general meeting of shareholders on July 2, 2025.
When a shareholder asked how long the company thinks the Nintendo Switch 2 lifecycle will be, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said that while they can’t comment on the length of the system’s lifecycle at this stage as it had just launched, he says that as a company, they are aiming to have the system to be “enjoyed by as many customers as possible for a long period of time”, similar to Nintendo Switch.
Furukawa also mentioned that thanks to the long lifecycle of Nintendo Switch, users who were in the first year of elementary school at the time of the Switch launch in 2017 have now entered middle school, and with the long lifecycle of the platform which has entered its eighth year, this means that they have many opportunities to enjoy Nintendo Switch titles. Furukawa says Nintendo is working hard to develop every Nintendo Switch 2 title and have them enjoyed by as many people as possible.
