Furukawa: We’re Considering A Successor To Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo’s new President, Shuntaro Furukawa, appears to be thinking about a successor to Nintendo 3DS.

In an interview with Kyoto Shimbun, Furukawa said that the Nintendo 3DS family of systems has a few advantages over Nintendo Switch – a longer lifespan, lower barrier of entry to consumers, and the fact that it’s smaller and easier to bring out than the Switch.

All these differences help make the 3DS a differentiated product from the Switch. When asked about the possibility of a successor to Nintendo 3DS, Furukawa replied that the company is “looking into all possibilities”.

Furukawa also reiterated his goal of making Nintendo’s mobile business a third pillar by reaching 100 billion yen (USD903 million) in sales.
