Game Informer: Metroid Prime Trilogy Long Done For Switch, Reason Behind Metroid Prime 4 Restart

Game Informer senior editor Imran Khan has revealed juicy details on Metroid Prime Trilogy and Metroid Prime 4 after Nintendo announced they’re restarting development for Metroid Prime 4.

According to the senior editor, development of Metroid Prime Trilogy for Nintendo Switch has “been long done”, and the game was planned to be announced in December 2018, probably during The Game Awards. Khan didn’t reveal why Nintendo pushed back the game’s announcement, but the Metroid Prime 4 delay could have played a part in it.

On the development of Metroid Prime 4, Khan revealed Nintendo was tinkering with an “experimental ad-hoc development process” for the game. This means that the game was made in different countries, in line with what we have heard about Bandai Namco Singapore’s involvement with the project. Khan explained that some teams had things under control but some teams were literally “on fire”.

Due to the problems facing the different teams scattered around the globe, Nintendo decided everything “had to be under one roof to right the ship.” The company roped in Retro Studios after the studio pitched a demo to Nintendo which they really liked, and hence Retro Studios is now involved with Metroid Prime 4.
